Event grant application
The Downtown Business District is offering one-time grants to stimulate and support events in our district in 2023. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis until funds are dispersed; each application is evaluated on the event’s ability to inspire, enliven and celebrate our downtown, and the ability to attract people from around the region to enjoy everything Main Street offers.
The maximum grant is $1,500 per applicant, and we encourage applicants for all kinds of events and audiences. After the event is completed, a basic report of the expenditures will be required, and the return of any unused grant funds is expected.
We want this to be an easy process for our downtown partners! Please do not agonize over the wording - we realize you may not have all your details planned out. We’re happy to have a pre-application conversation if you have any questions - just email DBD Coordinator Sandra Russo-Driska at Sandra@DowntownMiddletown.com or call/text DBD Chair Jen Alexander at (860) 490-9848.
Criteria:
•The events must take place within 2023. All kinds of events are eligible to apply.
•The event presenters are responsible for all aspects of the event and any licenses, permissions, staffing or other needs of the event.
•Applications are welcome from organizations and businesses outside the DBD, but the event must take place within the borders of the Downtown Business District. District borders: Roughly speaking, on the East side of Main Street, the district runs from the Lenscrafters building to the Mondo Pizza building. On the West side of Main Street, the district runs from Spear Park to Lan Chi Restaurant. The district does not include properties between Main & DeKoven, but it does include properties between Main & Broad from Washington St. to William St, and properties on the East side of Broad Street in those blocks.
